Nicolas Baguet is an illustrator and screen printer born in Viriat in 1992.
He co-runs the screen-printing workshop and publishing house Le Bain d'Huile in Ouges with Cerize Fournier.
His illustration work revolves around a variety of media, including stained glass and screen-printing.
For this exhibition, Nicolas Baguet invites us to discover his work through a variety of installations involving stained-glass windows and silkscreen prints in which his illustrations are transposed.
His illustrated creatures, often inspired by medieval bestiary, come to life in the light, playing with the transparency, opacity and textures of glass. In his work, Nicolas Baguet revisits stained glass, not as a simple ornament, but as a powerful vehicle for storytelling. He draws inspiration from the mystical characteristics of real creatures: beliefs, local legends or sometimes mistranslations of texts from other languages, looking at the way in which certain creatures, throughout history, have been attributed powers or qualities nurtured by stories.
