Slightly smaller than a modern cello, the piccolo cello has an extra treble string that allows it, while retaining its low tones, to widen its range in the treble and thus approach the sound of the viola da gamba.
With its minimalist line-up, the Trio Piccolo draws on all the talents of its musicians, who are passionate about Baroque music, to offer programmes of variable geometry, featuring the soprano and baritone voices as well as the cello, harpsichord and organ, as solo instruments or continuo.
